Brazil Santos Alfenas dulce, natural
Brazil Santos Alfenas dulce, natural
A Brazilian natural from the surroundings of Alfenas in the south of Minas Gerais. Chocolate, caramel and nuts, full body and low acidity: a classic that works perfectly for espresso, milk drinks or a moka pot.
Origin
Where does it come from?
Alfenas is located in Sul de Minas, the southern part of the state of Minas Gerais, which is one of the most significant coffee-growing regions in Brazil. Mild temperatures and a clear alternation of dry and rainy seasons provide the beans with even ripening and a typical sweetness.
The name Santos doesn't refer to a region, but to the port through which Brazilian coffee is traditionally exported. "Dulce" in the name is Spanish for sweet and perfectly captures the profile of the batch.
Processing
What does natural processing mean?
The cherries are dried whole, including the pulp, directly on drying patios. Sugars from the pulp pass into the bean, resulting in a sweeter and fuller cup than with washed coffee.
For Brazilian varieties like Catuaí or Mundo Novo, this mainly means chocolate, caramel and nuts, rather than wild fruitiness.
We explain how different methods change the taste in your cup in our coffee processing guide.
